What you will notice

What you get out of it

This is what changes in your day to day when you give your body well-guided hours without food.

Start without suffering

No jumping straight to 16 hours. You build up slowly and your body keeps up.

Why:Hunger is a schedule habit: it adjusts in days if you ramp up gradually.

More energy in the afternoon

Many people notice the after-lunch crash just stops happening.

Why:Smaller blood sugar spikes after meals mean fewer crashes.

Goodbye, snacking

You stop opening the fridge when you're not hungry. Two or three meals and done.

Why:With set meal times, your hunger hormone learns when food is coming.

Less bloating, smaller waist

Clothes start fitting better without counting calories or weighing food.

Why:Hours with low insulin help your body tap into stored fat.

You sleep better

Earlier dinners mean no heavy stomach at bedtime and better rest.

Why:Going to bed with digestion done improves sleep quality.

You never lose track

Alerts at every phase, streaks, and history to keep you motivated.

Why:Seeing your progress is what turns an attempt into a habit.

What the science says16:8 Intermittent Fasting for Beginners | Ayuname

16:8 means packing your meals into 8 hours and fasting for 16, with water, coffee, or unsweetened tea allowed. In people with obesity it often lowers food intake on its own and leads to modest weight loss, though in some trials it doesn't beat simply eating at regular times. Most people start at 12 hours and extend from there; it isn't recommended during pregnancy or with eating disorders.

  • Eating from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for 12 weeks, 23 adults with obesity lost 2.6% of their weight and dropped systolic pressure by 7 mmHg. [1]
  • In the TREAT trial (116 adults, 12 weeks), eating from noon to 8 p.m. produced no more weight loss than three structured meals a day. [2]
  • At 12 months, eating from noon to 8 p.m. without counting calories gave -4.6 kg versus control, no significant difference from calorie restriction. [3]
Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

How do I start 16:8 if I've never fasted?
Gradually. Week one: 12 hours (dinner at 9 p.m., breakfast at 9 a.m.). Week two: 14 hours. After that, 16. Ayuname builds the plan for you and alerts you at every phase so you're never guessing.
What can I drink during the fast?
Water, sparkling water, black coffee, tea, and unsweetened herbal teas. Milk, juice, sugary soda, or even one small bite will break your fast.
How much weight do you lose on 16:8?
It depends on the person, on what you eat in your window, and on how much you move. We don't promise numbers. What many people notice early on is less bloating, less snacking, and more energy.
Is it normal to feel hungry or get headaches at first?
Yes, it's common in the first few days. Drink water, add a pinch of salt, and don't add hours too fast. If you feel dizzy or unwell, break your fast. It usually passes within a week or two.
Do I have to eat breakfast or dinner?
Your call. The easiest setup for most people is skipping breakfast and eating from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. If you'd rather have breakfast, eat dinner earlier, say 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. What matters is that it fits your life.
